FACILITIES

Today Te Keeti is very much a well used Marae. Its compactness and close proximity to the Waipaa river and the main Otorohanga township draws much interest especially during summer. The Wharenui can comfortably sleep appoximately 80 persons. The whare is airy and has built in seating which acts as storage for luggae and blankets, good lighting and has easy access to the ablutions.

The Dinning Hall can sit around 100 comfortably. The kitchen and cookhouse are open plan and retain the basic amenities with two large fridges, constant hot water urns, a single range with fan baking facility, large commercial ovens, wash basins and tables with basic utensils, the dinning room consists of a range of white resin plastic tables and bench seats.  The Marae has two ablution units toilets and showering facilties. A bath is also provided for as part of the shower units and is located in the womans toilets.

Te Keeti still uses a koha based system. A small bond is required to be paid in advance to cover any breakages or losses or damage incurred during use. Otherwise the bond is recoverable. The layout of the Marae and its nice outlook and well kept frontage makes it a gem for visiting schools and kapa haka teams.

The Marae Trustees and committee are presently fundraising to put into place a major redevelopment plan for the Marae which will consist of an extension to the Wharenui, commissioning of carvings, recarpeting and lighting, kitchen and dining room refurbishment and kaumaatua or papakaainga housing.
